The Power Tools of Science of Mind
Every job has the right tool, and Science of Mind offers quite a few metaphysical tools in the toolkit of common practice. But as my dad would say, “There are tools, and then there are power tools…” and the same is true in Science of Mind.
Consider affirmations: a positive, declarative sentence in the present tense that invokes a desired thought or experience. This is a very good tool for when I’m trying to redirect my mind from false or limiting beliefs, old habits of mind, or negative self talk.
Ex: I am in control of my actions. No one has power over me.
Ex: All my needs are met in the Divine.
Ex: All is in Divine Right Order regardless of seeming appearance.
Affirmations are helpful, but when I need something super-charged, I turn to the power tool version of affirmations called affirmative prayer. This five-step prayer process, aka spiritual mind treatment, is a process that takes me step by step into the Infinite Warehouse of Potentiality so I can order up.
An affirmative prayer starts with recognition: The Divine is all there is…and various phrases that help us to connect to our Sacred Source. Then we shift into unification, knowing that I am (you are) one with the Divine. Anchored in our Truth, we declare our realization of principles, of what we claim or release, our order that we invoke from all potentiality. From here, we give thanks knowing it is already done and perfect. Finally, we release the prayer into the Law (the universal mechanism) that does the heavy lifting, so I let it go and let it be, knowing that it is done. We anchor the prayer by saying, “And so it is,” akin to amen, putting some closure on it and reaffirming that it already is.
This kind of prayer takes me on a journey to reconnect to that place where I “know that I know” the “All that Is.” As I remember who and what I am, the appearances and conditions that make me crazy fall away and I reconnect with principle. I gain not only clarity but also grace. Then I’m ready for whatever comes my way as the perfectly answered prayer for my life.
While I have “manifested” through affirmative prayer some physical things like new jobs and funds to pay for ministerial school, more importantly I’ve shifted myself into a deepened awareness of my worth and the abundance of the Universe which opened me up to that new job and the money that flowed my way right before registration every time. The inner work is where the power is, and affirmative prayer is the power tool to get there.
